On this episode of Democracy that Delivers, our host, John Morrell, and co-host, Aarya Nijat, are joined by Dr. Nishan De Mel, Executive Director of Verité Research. Dr. De Mel discusses Sri Lanka’s debt crisis, Sri Lankan government's response to the crisis, nation-wide and global protests calling for a change of leadership and immediate relief through suspension of debt repayment, and immediate, medium term and long term steps that will help Sri Lanka emerge out of this situation.
In the second episode of the podcast mini-series on resilience, CIPE speaks with the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (PLCC), an organization dedicated to advocating for policies that support the needs of LGBT-owned businesses. Chairperson of PLCC, Ronn Astillas, will outline the impact of the pandemic on LGBT-led businesses and highlight its work supporting members to become more resilient. PLCC will also share its recent advocacy efforts that support economic recovery in the lead up to the national elections, while also exploring how inclusion should be prioritized across efforts focused on economic resilience and recovery.

During this podcast, CIPE will speak with William Pawlucy from Association Options and Ines Pearce from Pearce Global Partners Inc. In this episode of Democracy that Delivers, host Peter Glover, Program Officer for the Anti Corruption and Governance Center at CIPE, welcomes two leaders in the global fight against corruption. Shannon Green serves as the Senior Advisor to the Administrator and Executive Director of the Anti-Corruption Task Force at USAID, and Brooke Stearns Lawson serves as the Task Force's Lead on Innovation, Research, and Learning. Vivek Menon, Associate Director of Global Operations & Industry Engagement for the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) joins CIPE’s Democracy That Delivers podcast to discuss his organization’s work. Menon works closely with CIPE’s Lola Adekanye, who co-hosted the episode. Menon discussed the almost decade-long project MACN has been actively involved with that is battling corruption in Nigeria.
Two guests from CIPE’s Europe and Eurasia department join host Ken Jaques to discuss their work. They are Calvin Chang, a program associate who focuses on the western Balkans, and Anna Goltermann, a program associate who focuses on advancing women’s economic empowerment. This is the second episode in a series focusing on emerging leaders at CIPE. Anti-Corruption author and Transparency International Co-Founder Frank Vogl joins the CIPE Anti-Corruption & Governance Center podcast this week to discuss his new book, The Enablers: How the West Supports Kleptocrats and Corruption. Vogl reviews the recommendations of his book, which shines a light on the Western financial institutions, lawyers, consultants, and other professionals who enable looting kleptocrats and other corrupt actors around the world.
