In the inaugural episode of a new Anti-Corruption & Governance Center podcast series on Private Sector Collective Action hosted by Katya Lysova, two experts on compliance and international trade talk about one of the largest and most sophisticated international anti-corruption coalitions in the world: the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN). Cecilia Müller Torbrand, who is MACN’s CEO, joins Ann Shazell, a Global Lead Lawyer at Cargill International and MACN’s Vice Chair discuss how public-private collaboration is crucial to combatting corruption in sea-based trade. With CIPE Senior Program Officer Lysova, the guests tackle the need for global NGOs to recognize collective action organizations as an effective anti-corruption strategy. They share how MACN is using data to analyze the types and scale of corruption in the global maritime sector.
Mila Atmos, host of the podcast Future Hindsight, joins CIPE’s Democracy that Delivers podcast to discuss the importance of civic engagement. Guest hosts Hanna Wetters, a CIPE Program Officer for Africa, and Richard Tucker, CIPE's editor, also took part in the discussion and focused on CIPE’s work on that continent.

In the second episode of the podcast mini-series on resilience, CIPE speaks with the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (PLCC), an organization dedicated to advocating for policies that support the needs of LGBT-owned businesses. Chairperson of PLCC, Ronn Astillas, will outline the impact of the pandemic on LGBT-led businesses and highlight its work supporting members to become more resilient. PLCC will also share its recent advocacy efforts that support economic recovery in the lead up to the national elections, while also exploring how inclusion should be prioritized across efforts focused on economic resilience and recovery.

Vivek Menon, Associate Director of Global Operations & Industry Engagement for the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) joins CIPE’s Democracy That Delivers podcast to discuss his organization’s work. Menon works closely with CIPE’s Lola Adekanye, who co-hosted the episode. Menon discussed the almost decade-long project MACN has been actively involved with that is battling corruption in Nigeria.
Two guests from CIPE’s Europe and Eurasia department join host Ken Jaques to discuss their work. They are Calvin Chang, a program associate who focuses on the western Balkans, and Anna Goltermann, a program associate who focuses on advancing women’s economic empowerment.
